Huge potential
A recent PwC Global Healthcare report revealed that over 60 percent of healthcare facilities in India view mobile health as a wonderful opportunity to drive their business. Experts believe India has the potential for developing mobile related health services, as mobile devices have become an integral part of our daily lives.
According to Suresh Vedula, Director – Enterprise Sales Markets, “Mobile applications have seeped into every aspect of our lives including education, information and entertainment and are gradually expanding to other areas like healthcare and public health. It is especially significant in India where there is a large rural population that is devoid of access to hospital, clinics and other heath related facilities.” He points out that Nokia offers mobile health initiative in India through Nokia Life Tools where mobile phones are used as a vehicle to promote healthcare. The programme launched last year is running successfully across the country.
Apollo Hospitals already has an active mobile healthcare delivery system that facilitates treatment over the mobile phone. “We have already expanded our reach by using innovative technology and the mobile phone for telemedicine, which we believe is a highly effective way to make healthcare available to the masses,” says Srinivas Raman, Head – IT at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals.
Similarly, by introducing mobile health systems, Dr. Batra’s chain of homeopathy clinics has made healthcare facilities easily available to patients through mobile phones. Dr. Soundararajan, CIO - Dr. Batra’s informs that as part of its m-health initiative, the homeopathic clinic provides multiple facilities and treatment to mobile phone users. “Patients can register and submit their brief history on mobile phone, fix appointment, chat with doctors and order medicines that are delivered at their doorstep,” he said.

Chinese media say that the OS has been created “entirely independently” in order to provide better localization for a range of features – from Chinese-language keyboards, to integration with the country’s banks. At the launch of the event, one of the developers involved with the project reportedly criticized Western software , saying that Apple’s iOS was too closed, that Google’s Android OS suffered from fragmentation (ie, too many versi

How to avoid injurious sitting posture at work? Take care of Ergonomics

The impact of poor consideration of these, as well as other, ergonomic elements can be very hazardous to our  well-being. Some of the effects include increase chances of suffering from carpel tunnel syndrome, decreased eye sight, cramps in our joints, strain from overworking certain muscles and joints,  and decreased blood-flow circulation. Work productivity also decreases when we are in environments that are not designed for proper ergonomics. One other important thing to consider is the lighting levels in the space. I actually did not even think of this as an ergonomic design issue, but it truly is.  Our eye muscles are the most used muscles in our entire body.  We use our eyes in every situation throughout our entire day.  Poor considerations for lighting causes very negative short and long-term effects.  It is recommended that we use mixed levels of lighting in our environments. This allows for multiple options for each user depending on his or her preferences and physical nee
